If you’ve seen a video on TikTok but forgotten to save it, you can check your Watch History and find it. There are a plethora of advantages to exploring your video library of old clips. It’s not uncommon for users to make the mistake of refreshing the For You Page (FYP) before they’re done watching a TikTok.
It’s also possible that the user didn’t bookmark a certain TikTok and now wishes to revisit it. In any case, it’s comforting to know that they can be recovered.
TikTok is widely regarded as the best platform for short-form videos in which users can both have fun and learn new things. With so much material to choose from, it’s no surprise that over a million TikToks are viewed every day by users.
FYP on TikTok is an algorithm-selected video feed that users can aimlessly scroll through. The app has also been updated with new functions, such as the ability to save movies to a user’s “Favorites” and create “Collections,” which facilitates easy access to previously viewed content.
Then in 2022, TikTok began testing the Watch History feature, which allows users to retrieve films they may not have saved and have problems locating using the search bar.

It’s straightforward to access your viewing history on TikTok. Launch the app and select “Profile” from the menu bar. Once you’re in the app’s profile section, tap the three lines (also known as the hamburger menu) in the upper right.
A list of options will show up. Selecting “Settings and privacy” reveals a comprehensive menu of customization choices. Select “Watch History” from the list of options under “Content & Activity.” After a set period of time has passed, the user will be able to rewatch videos they have previously watched.

The capacity of Watch History is restricted, as was previously noted. A user’s activity on TikTok will only be kept in this system for a maximum of seven days. That’s not unexpected, considering the volume of information people take in on a daily basis.
If you want to retrieve your account’s data for an in-depth analysis of Watch History, though, you’ll need to go into the ‘Privacy’ settings. Furthermore, the Watch History feature can be disabled at the user’s discretion.
Find the watch history toggle in the top right corner of the screen. Users can remove the movies by using the ‘Clear History’ option from the same settings menu. Unfortunately, the program does not yet allow users to remove specific films.
If you accidentally close a video without saving it, the Watch History function can help you get it back, but it has some oddities. First of all, the feature will save anything the user scrolls through on the FYP, including the video itself if they didn’t view it.

It’s not uncommon for people to watch for a brief period of time before deciding they don’t want to commit to the complete video. Even if the user doesn’t want the movies to be saved, they will. The result is that a lot of unnecessary FYP materials are piling up in the repository, making it harder to find what you’re looking for.
To make matters worse, there is presently no search bar or video filtering options. Future updates to TikTok could expand the app’s functionality. Nonetheless, the most recently viewed videos benefit greatly from Watch History’s additional value and convenience.
