The sides of all iPhones and iPads with cellular capabilities have SIM card slots. If you travel internationally or intend to switch carriers, you may need to swap the SIM card on your iPhone or iPad. To remove the SIM card from your iPhone or iPad, you will need the following:
- An Apple SIM card remover tool (provided in the box in some countries, especially when you buy an unlocked device) or a small, bent paper clip are the only tools required to remove the SIM card from your iPhone or iPad.
- Straighten the long end of the paper clip if you’re using one so that it protrudes (see the photo above). Make sure that whatever you choose to use, such as the point of a tiny screwdriver, can fit into the SIM ejector slot. Don’t damage your gadget in any way.

- A SIM card tray is a feature that almost all iPhones have, and if you have an iPhone 4s or later, you also have a SIM card slot.

How to Take the Sim Card out Of an iPad or iPhone?
- Put the small paperclip you bent before gently inside the SIM tray’s tiny pinhole.
- When the SIM tray of the iPhone or iPad pops out, apply light pressure. Only press in the direction of the pinhole; do not press at an angle.
- Take hold of the SIM tray and pull it out to the side.
- Change the SIM card. Align the card’s notched corners to ensure that you have installed the SIM in the proper orientation.
- Reposition the tray. Make sure the SIM tray is positioned correctly before attempting to insert it.
Note: The dual nano-SIM cards are inserted on each side of the SIM tray and should only fit one way if you are using an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR from mainland China.
Remember that you should never yank a SIM tray back into position. Your iPhone or iPad may become unable to connect to any cellular network if pins on the logic board are broken.
