Remove Photos From an iCloud Backup Permanently
You should be in the right frame of mind to delete photos before you actually start doing so. The photos on your iPhone aren’t backed up to iCloud, despite popular belief.
In other words, it’s a copy of your existing photo album. If your iPhone is synced with your iCloud account, erasing an image from either location will have the same effect on the other.
After 30 days, photos you’ve deleted from iCloud will be moved to the “Recently Deleted” album.
This data will be deleted from your iCloud account if you don’t retrieve it within that time frame. In the event that you change your mind and decide you’d like to retrieve the photo, you have until the end of the month to do so.

It’s worth repeating that this is the recommended method for erasing photos from your iCloud backup. By way of a web browser on a Mac or PC, you can remove photos from iCloud by following these steps:
- Enter your Apple ID password to access your iCloud account.

If your iPhone automatically backs up your photos to iCloud, all you have to do to remove them from iCloud is delete them from your iPhone’s Photos app. This is accomplished by:
- Launch the Photos program.
- To select multiple photos at once for deletion, either long-press them or use the Select button in the upper-right corner.
- Select the trash can in the right-hand corner.
- Choose Edit > Delete Photo.
