Facebook not working? Here are the most common issues and how to fix them!

Check for App Updates

Using an application that is too far removed from the current release can cause problems. If issues persist, check to see if you’re using the most recent version of the app.

Check for updates in the Google Play Store (or your preferred app store). Ensure Facebook’s functionality by upgrading to the most recent version.

How to Update the Facebook App:

1. Retrieve the Google Play app.
2. Select your profile picture from the menu that appears.
3. Choose Device & App Management.
4. To access the latest version, select the Updates tab.
5. Use Facebook to locate. You should see an Update button next to it if there is an available update. Try it out by tapping on it.
6. As an alternative, you can choose to update everything.

There’s always the tried-and-true method of restarting. If I do this, I can usually solve my technological issues. If you’re having Facebook issues and your device needs to be restarted, try that first. Restarting in this manner usually restores normal operation.

How to Restart an Android Phone:

• Long-press the power button.
• Simply click the Restart button.

Check Your Internet Connection

In addition, your internet connection could be down, which would prevent you from accessing Facebook. Check the functionality of the service by using another program or website.

If it isn’t, your internet connection is likely down. Users on the wireless network or local area network can verify the router’s internet connectivity. You could also try power cycling the router.

Checking Your Data Connection Status May Be Useful if You Rely on Cellular Data:

1. Release the Settings menu.
2. Launch Network & Internet.
3. Insert SIM cards by tapping on them.
4. Connect to the Internet via a mobile device.
5. Toggle Roaming on if you are going to be using your device outside of your home country or network’s coverage area (this may incur extra charges).

Check the App’s Network Permissions

If you have a stable internet connection and nothing else seems to be wrong, the failure of Facebook could be the result of a lack of proper permissions. Allow the social network to access everything it needs to run properly on your mobile device.

How to Allow Permissions on The Facebook App:

1. Turn on your Facebook app.
2. Click the menu button with three lines.
3. Activate Privacy & Settings.
4. Go to the Preferences menu.
5. Go down to the section labelled “Permissions.”
6. Check every box to make sure Facebook can access everything it needs.

Clear the cache

Most caches are beneficial. This information is stored locally so it can be accessed quickly without having to be downloaded each time.

It’s also true that corrupted data can lead to problems. When Facebook is down, it doesn’t hurt to clear it out.

Clear Chrome cache:

1. Launch Google Chrome.
2. A pull-down menu can be accessed by selecting the three dots in the upper right corner.
3. Go to the Preferences menu.
4. Enter the Security Settings menu.
5. To start fresh, select Clear browsing history.

Alternatively, you can delete the cache along with the cookies and history, which is what we recommend.
Choose from All Time and then click Clear data.

Clear cache on Android:

1. Release the Settings menu.
2. Access your apps.
3. Browse through all available apps until you locate the Facebook app.
4. Select the option to manage your cache and storage space.
5. Select the Clear Cache option.
6. The option to clear all data is also available if you need to start fresh.

Can’t Play Facebook Videos?

Facebook videos often don’t work properly, and the problems can vary from device to browser. Windows 7, Vista, XP, and possibly even earlier versions of the OS may necessitate the use of a different browser. If you haven’t already, try switching your browser to something more modern, like Chrome or Firefox.

Other common workarounds include a computer restart or a browser close/open cycle. Check your network settings as well.

Not Able to Upload Photos

We all know that pictures are a popular way for people to share important life moments on Facebook. There are a few things you can try if your Facebook image uploads aren’t working.

The first step in fixing this is updating your Facebook app or browser to the most recent version. Likewise, disable or add an exception for Facebook on your ad blocker of choice. If that doesn’t work, try saving the photo in a different format. If you are unable to upload a copy of the photo, try uploading the original.

If so, you can return to your editing program and save the image as a format that can be read by your device. File formats like JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, and RIFF are all included. The same goes for particularly large image files. Always aim for less than 15MB in file size when uploading photos to Facebook.

Can’t Upload Videos

The problem with Facebook video uploads is very similar. If a video won’t upload, check to see if it is encoded correctly. Facebook prefers video formats like MP4 and MOV. A video you have may also exceed the maximum length allowed. The maximum time allowed is 240 minutes, and the maximum file size is 4GB.

Make sure you’re connected to the internet and using the most recent version of the required software/web browser.
