For 13 seasons in the 1980s and 1990s, American football offensive tackle Keith Van Horne (born November 6, 1957) played professionally in the National Football League (NFL). Keith Van Horn, who was born in Fullerton, California in 1975, is a former college basketball player for the University of Utah. During the years 1995–1997, Van Horn won the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year award a whopping three times.
In 1997, he was named to the first team of All-Americans, and in honor of that, the university retired his jersey number 44. Van Horn was the second player selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1997 NBA Draft. Over the course of his career, Van Horn played in 57 postseason contests and was a part of two championship teams (the 2002 Eastern Conference champion New Jersey Nets and the 2006 Western Conference champion Dallas Mavericks). Van Horne’s birthplace was the Pennsylvania town of Mt. Lebanon. He got his high school education from Fullerton High, in Fullerton, California. Future NFL New Orleans Saints tight end Hoby Brenner was one of his varsity football teammates at Fullerton.
College career
Van Horn attended the University of Utah after graduating from Diamond Bar High School in Diamond Bar, California. The former star, Josh Grant, was replaced by him after being snatched up by Rick Majerus. From 1993 until 1997, he suited up for the University of Utah, where he was honored with a number of All-American nods.
Even though Van Horn’s father passed away during his freshman year, he still managed to set a Utah freshman scoring record with 18.3 points per game on 51 percent shooting and 8.3 rebounds per game. Van Horn took his team to the NCAA Tournament as a sophomore.
In the 1997 WAC Conference Tournament, he famously made game-winning shots in the final seconds of games against SMU and New Mexico.
In 1997, he led the Utes to their best record ever (29-4) and a #2 national ranking by shooting 90.4 percent from the free throw line and averaging 22.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Because of this, they made it to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. He was a unanimous first-team All-American pick and ESPN’s Men’s College Player of the Year that year (his senior year).
In addition to being the all-time leading scorer at the University of Utah and in WAC history with 2,542 points, he also holds the record as the first player in WAC history to be named Player of the Year three times (1995,1996,1997). Van Horn is second all-time in total rebounds and first all-time in both points and defensive rebounds at the University of Utah. He finished his collegiate career averaging 20.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.

Personal life
