Keith Lionel Urban was born in the New Zealand city of Whangarei on October 26, 1967. In Caboolture, Queensland, Australia, where he grew up, his father ran a convenience store. He began taking guitar lessons from his teacher, Sue McCarthy, when he was a child and attended local music competitions.
Urban made his debut in the Australian talent show “New Faces” in 1983.
