Amy Coney Barrett was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 28, 1972. Linda Coney is the eldest of Michael and Linda’s seven children. Michael worked in the legal department of Shell Oil Company in Houston. She was accepted into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor organization, after graduating from Rhodes College in Memphis with a degree in English literature in 1994. After graduating from college, she received a full scholarship to Notre Dame Law School. She graduated first in her class at Notre Dame in 1997, gaining the award of summa cum laude.
