Is Showtime Preparing For American Gigolo Season 2?

0

p>Showtime debuted the entire drama and romance series American Gigolo on September 11, 2022. In actuality, it is a television adaptation of the 1980 film American Gigolo. Eight episodes make up the entire thing.

We are wondering because viewers already seem to be interested in seeing American Gigolo continue. The former gigolo Julian Kaye, who spent 15 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, must pick up the pieces while the detective who placed him in jail tries to solve the case that led to his captivity.

By reuniting with Michelle, his unstable mother, and other sex workers, Julian tries to make sense of his past as an escort and who he is now. Let’s check to see whether the show is picked up for a second season.

Is American Gigolo Season 2 Happening?

The second season of American Gigolo has not yet been ordered. Given that the series just finished and that it usually takes some time before a show is renewed for another season, it is also understandable.

American Gigolo Season 2?

The likelihood of renewal depends mostly on viewership and audience choices. Another season of “American Gigolo” doesn’t seem likely, though. The series’ reduction from 10 to 8 episodes, which has its own set of justifications, is the first factor.

Mol did, however, imply in an interview that a second season was improbable.

It’s a form of escape that we don’t typically witness, Mol remarked. These types of shows are becoming less and less common. The show has a gloomy tone, but there are also really true sequences about love, grief, and abuse, which is what I love about it.

But it’s still a stylish and enjoyable ride. I sincerely hope that there is a decent balance and that everyone will find it enjoyable.

Why Was American Gigolo Cut Short?

The original showrunner of the series, Hollander, was abruptly fired from production in April after a misbehavior inquiry, which resulted in a number of issues. The episodes were shortened for the same purpose.

In response, O’Donnell told a media outlet that it was strange that he was fired. Many of us participated in the show primarily to collaborate with him. Then, sort of out of nowhere, this occurred. One day they informed us that David had been fired, but they never really gave us an explanation.

We recently hired a new team, so we took a few weeks off while they figured out what to do, and then we returned and finished it.

Rosie added that it was quite difficult following the departure of the former showrunner. Yes, it was quite challenging. Everyone was perplexed, and no one really understood what was going on. On the set, there were numerous rumours.

I got in touch with David to check on him and to let him know to get in touch if he ever wanted to talk or get some coffee. We’ve done that on a few occasions.

It was a significant change in focus and intensity because I genuinely admire his ability to craft exquisitely moving characters, and I believe many of us on the set were eager to work with him. The hour-long drama is a demanding schedule in the middle of a series when you’re already worn out. It’s like spending six months in a movie.

It seems improbable that there will be a second season, but if there is one, we might have to wait a bit longer for the renewal. You are welcome to comment on the series in the meanwhile with your thoughts.
