The Sex Lives Of College Girls Season 2 – Release Date, Cast, and Plot Latest Update
“The Sex Lives of College Girls” premiered on HBO Max in late November and ended on December 9, but not before being renewed for a second season.
Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble’s “The Sex Lives of College Girls” follows four 18-year-old housemates as they navigate their newfound freedom, which includes the opportunity to explore their sexuality. Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet), a work-study student from a small town who has recently been abandoned by her high school sweetheart and is ready to begin her freshman year, is one of them.
Bela (Amrit Kaur) has two major goals for the year: get published in the university comedy magazine and have a lot of sex. Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) is a professional soccer player and the daughter of a senator who is having an affair with her married coach. Then there’s Leighton (Reneé Rapp), an affluent New York legacy student who can’t come out as a lesbian, which causes her budding romance with another student to be hampered.
We see this foursome face a range of obstacles in their first few months of college, ranging from workplace harassment to relationship issues to an academic cheating scandal, throughout Season 1. We observed the four women become closer and encourage one another throughout the challenges. Fans of the show are naturally excited for more after Episode 10, “The Truth,” ended on a wild cliffhanger.
So, what do we know about the second season of “The Sex Lives of College Girls” so far?
When can we expect Season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls?
As of this writing, there is no indication on when HBO Max will air the second season of “The Sex Lives Of College Girls.” On December 7, just two days before the series finale, the show was renewed. Given the short time since the announcement, we don’t have any additional information on when Season 2 production will begin.
For the time being, we may make educated guesses about when the next season of “The Sex Lives of College Girls” will premiere by examining another HBO Max original series, “Love Life,” which has already aired two seasons. The first season of “Love Life” ended on June 11, 2020, the same day that Netflix announced the show’s renewal for a second season (via The Wrap). Just over a year later, on October 28, 2021, the next season premiere.
Season 2 of “The Sex Lives of College Girl” is expected to air in around a year, based on the proximity of the renewal and release dates, however, this is a preliminary estimate. As a result, a possible release date might be late 2022 or early 2023, depending on when production for the next season begins. If production begins directly at the start of the new year, it’s much more probable that new episodes will be released before the end of the year.
Of course, fans of the show are looking forward to the new episodes’ debut, but we’ll have to wait and see when production begins to speculate on a release date.

Season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls Cast
Our four main characters, Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet), Bela (Amrit Kaur), Leighton (Reneé Rapp), and Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott), will very certainly return for Season 2. All four characters’ arcs were left open-ended at the end of Season 1, allowing them to continue into the next batch of episodes. Because it is each of these four performers’ first significant on-screen appearance, “The Sex Lives of College Girls” is noteworthy.
In addition to the crucial quartet, Gavin Leatherwood, Midori Francis, Ilia Isorels Paulino, Chris Meyer, and Renika Williams are among the actors we may expect to see again. Leatherwood plays Nico, Leighton’s brother, who begins a sexual relationship with Kimberly (despite his having a girlfriend). Francis portrays Alicia, Leighton’s love interest, who is worried by the fact that Leighton is still in the closet.
Paulino and Meyer play Kimberly’s coffee shop coworkers Lila and Canaan, and Meyer begins dating Whitney at the end of Season 1. Williams portrays Willow, Whitney’s friend, and comrade. Eric (Mekki Leeper) and Evangeline (Mekki Leeper), two of Bela’s colleagues’ comedy writers from The Catullan, are also set to appear (Sierra Katow).
We can certainly expect more appearances from the girls’ parents in Season 2. Sherri Shepherd plays Whitney’s mother, Senator Evette Chase; Rob Huebel plays Leighton’s father (and Essex alum) Henry; Nicole Sullivan plays Kimberly’s mother Carol; and Mueen Jahan and Kavi Ramachandran Ladnier play Bela’s parents, Nevaan and Reena.

What is the plot of The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2?
Despite being caught cheating on her exam in the final scene of Season 1, Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet) is not expelled, but she does lose her scholarship. During the season, Kimberly faces financial difficulties. Her only option to pay to attend Essex is through a work-study program, which, along with that much-needed scholarship, keeps her afloat. She now needs to fund upwards of $20,000 per semester to stay in school.
Meanwhile, Alicia (Midori Francis) and Leighton (Renée Rapp) split up owing to Leighton’s refusal to come out. Following their breakup, a depressed Leighton finally tells Kimberly the truth about her feelings. In the following season, we may expect this Essex legacy to address her reasons for wanting to stay in the closet, ideally with Kimberly at her side to encourage her.
Ryan (Conor Donnally) is successfully booted out of The Catullan after sexually harassing Bela twice. Despite her success, she is harassed by male coworkers, prompting her resignation. Two female Catullan writers then left, pitching Bela on starting their own women’s comedy magazine, which will most likely happen in Season 2. A possible romance between Bela and Eric is also hinted at in the conclusion (Mekki Leeper).
Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) tells her mother about her affair with her coach for the first time (James Morosini). She’s also dating Canaan (Christopher Meyer), Kimberly’s coworker, so we can certainly expect their romance to bloom in the coming season. Kimberly, Leighton, Bela, and Whitney are all looking forward to Season 2 of “The Sex Lives of College Girls.”
