‘Madame Web’: Sydney Sweeney Joins Dakota Johnson in the Movie – Spider-Verse

'Madame Web': Sydney Sweeney Joins Dakota Johnson in the Movie

With Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the Venom flicks, and the impending Morbius, Sony has been on a roll with their Spider-Verse franchise. However, their Madame Web film, starring Dakota Johnson in the titular role, is one of the most fascinating future Spider-centric projects. According to Deadline, Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney has joined the film’s cast in an unspecified role.

S.J. Clarkson is directing the film, which was written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless based on a prior script by Kerem Sanga. There isn’t much information available regarding the project right now. Madame Web, on the other hand, is a debilitated elderly woman whose powers are derived from her connection to a large life-support system resembling a spiderweb in the comics.

Given Johnson’s age and the fact that he isn’t ill, it’s safe to presume that Sony’s take on the character will be very different.

Madame Web is most known for her roles in the Spider-Man animated series from 1994 and the critically acclaimed game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions from 2010, in which she had a prominent supporting role in both continuities. Her character is Spider-“lady Man’s in the chair” and has appeared in a number of important multiverse stories.

Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning?

With the return of both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of the Web-Head in No Way Home, the Spider-Verse floodgates have just opened. Furthermore, due to Madame Web’s psychic sensory abilities, Deadline’s insiders claim that Sony sees her as their version of Doctor Strange.

All of this adds to the excitement of Sweeney’s arrival. The actress has starred in HBO’s successful programs Euphoria and The White Lotus as one of the breakout stars. Her film career is also heating up, with leading roles in Amazon’s The Voyeurs and Blumhouse’s Nocturne, the latter of which is one of the most underappreciated horror films in recent memory.

Sweeney has demonstrated her versatility in all of her roles. Her roles in Euphoria and Nocturne, in particular, demonstrated her ability to play a compelling villain. As a result, it will be fascinating to watch what sort of part Sweeney will play and how this picture will come together in the end, given the plot’s ambiguity. Madame Web is currently in its early stages of creation, but we can expect to learn more as further casting is disclosed and the film nears completion.
